FAQ

Q: Has the date for the 2013 marathon been announced?
A: The 2013 marathon is planned to take place April 26-27, 2013

Q: What time do the events take place?
A: See the schedule. 

Q: Is there lodging available nearby?
A: Yes, visit Grand View Lodge or the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce for other local lodging.

Q: Is there a pasta feed?
A: No, however, many area businesses will have specials for Run for the Lakes participants.

Q: Where should I park?
A: There will be designated parking areas for runners in Nisswa – a map will come with the Participant Guide.

Q: Can I volunteer to help?

Registration 

Q: When does registration open?
A: September 1, 2012. 

Q: When does registration close?
A: Online registration closes April 23rd, 2013 at 11:59 pm. You can still register for all events Friday, April 26th at the Health & Fitness Expo.

Q: Is there onsite registration?
A: Yes, Friday evening from 2-8pm at Grand View Lodge at the Health & Fitness Expo.  

Q: When will I receive confirmation information?
A: An informational participant guide will be e-mailed to you mid-April. Active.com will e-mail you a confirmation when your registration is processed. Please bring an ID and either the printed confirmation from Active.com, or the confirmation on the cover of your participant guide (for 10K, half, relay and full marathoners).

Q: When do I pick up my registration packet/chip packet?
A: Friday evening from 2-8pm at Grand View Lodge and Saturday morning 6:30-7:00am at the Nisswa Community Center.

Q: Can a friend/family member pick up my packet/chip packet?

A: Yes, if your friend brings a copy of your ID or your registration confirmation they may pick up your packet.

Q: I registered for one race and want to switch to a different race; is that possible??
A: Yes, it is possible to switch races until April 1, 2013 free of charge. After that a $10 transfer fee will be applied.

Q: I cannot run the race anymore - can I get my money back?
A: Sorry, entry fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

 

Course

Q: Where is the Brainerd Jaycees Run for the Lakes starting/ending points?
A: All races will start and end in the city of Nisswa, Minnesota.

Q: Is there a map of the course?
A. Yes, view the maps here

Q: Is there an elevation map?
A: No, however there is only a 9 meter difference in the course, with only a few small hills – the course is fairly flat with a few rolling hills on miles 8-10.

Q: Are the course(s) be certified?
A: Yes, both the half marathon and marathon courses are USATF certified.

Q: Is the race chip timed?
A: Yes. Our race is chip timed by Pickle Events. 

Q: Is there a time limit on the course?
A: The 10K, half and full marathon courses close after six hours. 

Q: Are pacers provided?
A: Yes, MN Pacers Pace Team will be providing pacers.  See Pacers FAQ.

Q: How many water stops are on the course?
A: 8 for the half marathon, 16 for the full marathon.

Q: Is there a sports drink offered?
A: Yes,at each water stop.

Q: Are gels offered?
A: GU enegery gel will be available for the full marathoners at mile 14.5.

Q: Are there porta-potties on the course?
A: Yes, at each of the water stops and at the start and finish lines.

Q: Are there aid stations on the route?
A: Yes, 4 aid stations in addition to medical spotters throughout the course.

Q: Can I wear headphones?
A: Yes

 

T-shirts, Medals and Awards  

Q: Do all runners get a finisher Medal and T-Shirt?
A: All Full, Half and Relay marathoners will receive a medal and a dri-fit t-shirt. 10K runners will receive a moisture management t-shirt. 5K runners will receive a tri-blend t-shirt. Top finishers from all races will receive awards.

Q: Are awards given out to runners?
A: Yes, awards will be given to the top 3 male and female overall finishers and the top 3 male and female winners in each age category.

Q: What are the age categories?
A: 5K and 10K include 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
    Half and Full Marathon include 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
